"Shout it aloud, do not hold back.  Raise your voice like a trumpet.
Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins."

RACINE — The social concerns committee at Olympia Brown Unitarian Universalist Church has scheduled a gay rights march through Downtown next Sunday.

The march from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 28 will be held on the 40th anniversary of the beginning of the Stonewall riots. On June 28, 1969, demonstrators violently opposed a police raid on a New York bar that catered to gays, the first of several days of protests often mentioned as the start of the American gay rights movement.

The Racine march will begin on the steps of Olympia Brown, 625 College Ave. Stops are planned at various Downtown locations where speakers will touch on the economic, political, family and religious implications of gay rights.

Scheduled speakers include Norm Cloutier, an economics professor at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside; retired psychologist John Chantry; Racine Dominican Sister Ann Pratt; the Rev. Michael Mueller of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Caledonia; Bruce Joffe, executive director of the LGBT Center of Southeast Wisconsin, and parent Kathleen Sexton. Music is also planned.

Organizers said it’s intended as a general expression of solidarity among gay and heterosexual residents, rather than a push for specific legislation. The Rev. Tony Larsen, minister at Olympia Brown, said it is the first such march in Racine he can remember.

The public is invited to attend the march, which will be held rain or shine. For information, call Olympia Brown at (262) 634-0659.

ABOUT StreetPreach.com

 Preach The Word
Many people do not realize that Jesus was a street preacher. So was his cousin John the Baptist. The Bible speaks of many street preachers who took God’s message of repentance and salvation to all sorts of people (i.e. Moses, Jonah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Peter, Paul, Stephen, etc).

 The Message

The message of Jesus was simple:

Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

The message today is the same:

R E P E N T !

Noah Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines REPENTANCE as follows:

3. Real penitence; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. This is called evangelical repentance, and is accompanied and followed by amendment of life.

Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God. - Hammond.

Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. 2Cor. 7 Matt. 3

Repentance is the relinquishment of any practice, from conviction that it has offended God. - Johnson.

Law to the Proud, Grace to the Humble
Many preachers of today will proclaim God's grace without presenting God's Law.  The Church is doing a great disservice by not including the Law in evangelism.

Evangelist A. B. Earle was a strong believer in the preaching of future punishment:

"I have found by long experience that the severest threatenings of the Law of God have a prominent place in leading men to Christ. They must see themselves lost before they will cry for mercy. They will not escape from danger until they see it." - A. B. Earle

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command."
God’s Law/ Exodus 20:1-17
1. YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME.
2. YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FOR YOURSELF ANY GRAVEN IMAGE.
3. YOU SHALL NOT TAKE THE NAME OF THE LORD YOUR GOD IN VAIN.
4. REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, TO KEEP IT HOLY.
5. HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER.
6. YOU SHALL NOT MURDER.
7. YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT
ADULTERY.
8. YOU SHALL NOT STEAL.
9. YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS.
10. YOU SHALL NOT COVET.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Everyone is in need of a Savior because everyone has violated the law of God. Everyone deserves the fires of hell as a just punishment for their sins, but Jesus paid the price as a sacrifice for you.

There is only one way to God.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

One must repent and put his faith in Jesus Christ in order to be forgiven of his sins and receive the gift of eternal life.

 The Luv Gospel
Many Christians feel that pointing out sin and preaching the Law is wrong, and that evangelists should stick with preaching the Love & Grace of God. This method of evangelism has the great potential of making false converts.

Many people believe they have done nothing wrong and do not need to repent. If you are not sorry for you sins, you will not ask God to forgive you. The law must be used to convict the sinner.

Jonathan Edwards preached a sermon entitled The Justice of God in the Damnation of Sinners. When sinners are damned to hell for eternity, that is God’s justice at work. You get what you deserve, and you reap what you sow.

Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…

Acts 26:20 ... I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

Jeremiah 6:17 I appointed watchmen over you and said, "Listen to the sound of the trumpet!" But you said, "We will not listen."

 Is God Calling You?
Fellow Christian, is the Lord calling you to raise your voice like a trumpet? Does the Almighty want you to rebuke the wicked and warn them of their impending doom in hell? Do you sense an urgency to warn lukewarm Christians that they have lost their saltiness and they are good for nothing but to be trampled under the foot of men?

Be encouraged! Step out in faith. Follow Jesus and become a fisher of men.

Matthew 9:37,38 Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Ezekiel 3:17 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me."
